Opening a shop in the Meridian Federal Union allows citizens to operate retail businesses within regulated commercial zones.
Shops rely on a combination of CityHall‑managed infrastructure, in‑game mechanics, and RP enforcement to ensure fair trade and lawful operation.

This page describes the requirements, warehouse system, selling mechanics, security features, and compliance rules for establishing and managing a shop.

Overview

A shop is a private retail business that sells items to players.
To operate legally, a shop must:

  • Hold a generic shop license

  • Register at CityHall

  • Possess a WorldGuard region in a commercial zone

  • Follow all retail laws and RP regulations

Shops may sell most items, except those restricted by law (e.g., weapons).

Requirements

To open a shop, the owner must meet the following conditions:

  • Generic Shop License
Issued by CityHall for retail operations.

  • WorldGuard Region (HQ)
A regulated‑size region located in a commercial zone.
This region is mandatory for shop operation.

  • Registration Fee
A standard business fee paid at CityHall.

  • Warehouse Request
The owner must request a warehouse from CityHall.

Warehouse System

CityHall provides warehouses upon request.
Warehouses serve as secure storage for shop inventory.

Features

  • Location chosen by the owner

  • Multiple warehouses allowed
(CityHall may charge for additional warehouses depending on law)

  • Unlimited drawers and items

  • Individual drawer permissions
Owners can assign access per drawer to specific employees

Warehouses are essential for organizing stock, restocking shelves, and managing inventory.

Selling System

Shops use display entities to showcase items.
Items placed in displays are locked until purchased.

Mechanics

  • Items cannot be used, eaten, or placed until paid

  • After payment, the system automatically unlocks the item

  • Purchases must be processed by an employee

  • Shops cannot operate without an employee online

  • Receipts are generated as physical items

Restricted Items

Some items cannot be sold due to legal restrictions.
Weapons, for example, are illegal to sell.

/shop release

The /shop release command removes unsold tags from items.
This is used for RP situations or administrative corrections.

Security & Theft

Shops include built‑in anti‑theft mechanics.

Alarm System

If a player attempts to steal an item:

  • An in‑game alarm sound is triggered

  • The shop owner is notified

  • The shop may call LEO depending on RP

Demagnetizer

The demagnetizer is an illegal item that permanently removes shop tags.
Possession or use of this item is subject to RP enforcement and legal consequences.

Additional Security

Shops may employ:

  • Guards

  • RP patrols

Cameras are not available yet.

Employee Management

  • No minimum number of employees required

  • Employees can:

    • Restock warehouses

    • Manage drawers

  • Only the administration can change prices

Allowed Shop Types

Shops may sell:

  • Food

  • Blocks

  • Tools (only farming tools, due to non‑vanilla restrictions)

  • Furniture

  • Decoration

  • Farming supplies

  • Pharmacy goods

Clothing shops are handled separately as boutiques.

Weapons cannot be sold legally.

Inspections & Compliance

Shops must follow RP rules regarding:

  • Opening hours

  • Customer service

  • Refunds

  • Product warranties

Inspections are performed by CityHall.

Taxes

Shops pay generic business taxes, unless otherwise defined by law.
No special retail taxes exist unless legislation introduces them.

Failure Conditions

A shop may lose its license if:

  • It violates retail laws

  • It sells illegal items

  • It engages in tax evasion

  • It repeatedly fails inspections

  • It abuses RP mechanics

Consequences depend on current legislation and may include fines, closure, or legal action.
